The Deacon win was a team effort with underclassmen stepping up to the challenge. Sophomore Jessica Hauff led the Deacons posting a season high 16 kills and had seven digs of her own. Junior Ashlee Phillips led the team with a .769 hitting percentage, posting 10 kills. She also recorded 47 assists, four digs, two block assists and one service ace.

Other Wake contributors were sophomore Katy de Roeck who posted two kills and six digs, redshirt freshman Tawni Shulte recorded eight digs in three games and freshman Kim Stern recorded a career high eight kills and four block assists for the Demon Deacons.

Senior Trina Maso de Moya registered 10 kills and 10 digs tonight as well.

Head coach Valorie Baker applauded her team’s focus.

“Our team maintained focus throughout the match, regardless of the substitutions we made,” said Baker. “We did a nice job off the bench and maintaining our level of play.”
