SHAWNEE, Okla. (BP)--Rett Terrell's RBI single in the bottom of the ninth moved Oklahoma Baptist into the Sooner Athletic Conference championship game and on to the NAIA Region VI Tournament.

OBU lost to Oklahoma City 18-5 in the championship game.

The single off All-Conference closer David Wasylak (4-1) gave the Bison a 9-8 win against host Lubbock Christian University.

The Chaparrals reached starter Danny Ruberte for a first inning run on a Michael Harkins RBI single.

The Bison responded with a six-run first inning that included four hits and three errors. Justin Ard singled home two runs, Terrell doubled home two runs and Frankie Ibarra had an RBI single in the inning.

The Chaps got back in the game with a four-run fourth, spurred by a three-run double by Manny Paula. LCU tied the game in the fifth, scoring on a wild pitch.

The Bison took a 7-6 lead in the sixth when Kip Keith scored on a wild pitch.

Lubbock Christian took an 8-7 lead off reliever Chris Ryan, grabbing two unearned runs on two errors and a two-run single by Adrian Abraham.

OBU tied the game in the bottom of the seventh when Ryan Brown singled, stole second and scored on a double by Adam Dalby.

Ryan (9-5) allowed no earned runs over the last five innings to pick up his second win in the SAC Tournament. He pitched out a first-and-third, no-out jam in the top of the eighth, getting a pop up, a strikeout and a grounder to first.

The Bison wasted no time winning it in the ninth. Ibarra singled to right, Brown was hit by a pitch and Dalby singled to load the bases. Terrell singled to right to end the important game.

In the championship game, OBU led 5-0 at one point, but Oklahoma City scored the game's final 18 runs.

Brown and Schenck had solo home runs and Danny Ruberte drove home three runs on two hits. Schenck and Ard had two hits each in OBU's nine-hit output.

OBU, Oklahoma City, Lubbock Christian, Houston Baptist, Texas Wesleyan and likely Wayland Baptist will reach the Region VI Tournament starting May 10 in Plainview, Texas.
