CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (BP)--The Carson-Newman Eagles shocked Division I-AA in-state rival UT-Chattanooga with a 29-17 victory over the Mocs Aug. 30 in UTC’s season opener at Finley Stadium.

“At halftime, our kids really thought they’d win,” head coach Ken Sparks said. “There were many momentum shifts in the game and I’m glad the river flowed our way.”

Carson-Newman rallied from a 14-0 deficit in the second quarter. A field goal by Aubrey Ingham gave the Eagles a 15-14 lead in the third quarter, one they would not relinquish.
