Union soccer edges Freed-Hardeman

JACKSON, Tenn. (BP)--The Union University men's soccer team trailed for just 30 seconds in its conference match with Freed-Hardeman University Sept. 23 before rallying for a 2-1 victory.
Union improved to 4-3-1 on the season and 2-0 in league play. Freed-Hardeman dropped to 4-5 overall and 0-2 in the TranSouth.
The Lions opened the scoring with a goal from Travis Shivers in the seventh minute of play. However, just 30 seconds later, Union's Paul Turner tied the game at 1-1. The score remained knotted at halftime.
A quick goal by Wagner Oliveira just one minute into the second half put Union ahead for good.
James Landham recorded two saves for Union, while Alexandre Girodo saved 12 shots for the Lions. Union outshot Freed-Hardeman 27-6 in the game, including 15-4 in the shots-on-goal category. --30--
