Baylor topples Dallas Baptist
Wednesday, May 19, 2010
By Staff

WACO, Texas (BP)-Baylor jumped out to an early lead with five runs in the first three innings, and Willie Kempf held Dallas Baptist to one run in five innings of work to guide the Bears to a 6-2 win May 18 at Baylor Ballpark.

Four different Baylor (28-21) relievers tossed an inning each to close out the win. Dallas Baptist (28-24) outfielder Ryan Enos connected on a solo homer in the eighth, but that's all the offense the Patriots could manage against the Bears' bullpen.

Kempf (6-2) notched his team-leading sixth win of the season by holding DBU to one run on six hits with one walk and four strikeouts in five innings. It's the second time Kempf has notched six wins in a season during his four years at Baylor, and it also gave him career win No. 19 - seven more than any other pitcher on the Baylor staff.
