By Staff

WACO, Texas (BP)--Brittney Griner scored 30 points to lead the Baylor Lady Bears past West Virginia 82-68 in the second round of the NCAA women’s tournament March 22.

Griner was on the bench for the final nine minutes of the first half with two fouls.

“It was hard sitting on the bench,” Griner said in an AP story. “But my team did great and they held it, and I was able to come back in the second half and help my team.”

Griner’s 30 points set a Baylor record for most single-game points in the NCAA tournament.

Baylor (33-2) advances to the Sweet 16, where the Lady Bears will play Wisconsin-Green Bay in Dallas March 27.
