Baylor's Griffin racks up weekly awards

FORT WORTH, Texas (BP)--Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III added another national award on Wednesday when he was named the Davey O’Brien Quarterback of the Week.

After leading the Bears to a 50-48 upset of No. 14 TCU, Griffen has been named the Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week, Davey O’Brien Quarterback of the Week and National Offensive Player of the Week by and the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

Griffin also earned Player of the Week honors from and is one of four finalists for both the Capital One Cup Impact Performance of the Week and AT&T All-America Player of the Week.

Griffin is one of 38 candidates on the preseason watch list for the Davey O’Brien Award. Semifinalists will be announced Oct. 24, and fans can cast their ballots by visiting The fan vote counts for five percent during each round of the voting process. Griffin was one of 10 semifinalists for the award a season ago.

Griffin completed 21 of 27 passes for 359 yards, rushed 10 times for 38 yards and also caught a 15-yard pass on third-and-10 to extend the game-winning drive.
