PLAINVIEW, Texas (BP)—-The Flying Queens are taking two weeks off after capturing the third place trophy last weekend at the WTA&MU 7-Up Lady Buff Classic.

April Jordan-Winn had a record-setting game at the tournament during the final contest against Henderson State University. Jordan-Winn, a senior, scored a career-high 27 points, hitting 8-of-10 shorts from the field and 9-of-10 from the free throw line. Freshman Cassie Birkenfeld came off the bench in the game and spent a lot of time at the charity stripe, putting in 12-of-15 chances on her way to a career-high of 18 points.

Jordan-Winn and Cari Lynne Stridde were the Flying Queen representatives on the 7-Up Classic’s All-Tournament team.

The Queens, 7-4, on the season and ranked No. 17 in the latest NAIA poll, are now out of action until Huston-Tillotson College. Following that Saturday afternoon contest, the WBU women will drive to Dallas to catch a plane for Cancun, Mexico, where they will be one of four teams competing in the Torneo Cancun de Basquetbol on Dec. 21 and 22.
